What TNBC is — and is not
TheNextBigCycle is an analytical project with one mission: to help you understand how the world actually works. It treats recurring societal dynamics as patterns to be recognized, and it works by synthesis — compressing what economics, comparative politics, public law, and organizational sociology have established into instruments a broad audience can use.
TNBC publishes no forecasts and takes no positions. Not out of caution — out of respect for where the work divides. A forecast tells you what to expect; an opinion tells you what to think. Both are conclusions drawn for you. TNBC supplies the layer underneath: an understanding of the structure as it stands. What you expect and what you believe are yours to build — on ground that holds.
The work is layered accordingly. A knowledge layer holds the mechanics — the Explainer curriculum, concept by concept. A systems layer wires those mechanics into working instruments: the Power Maps, which read where power sits — between society and state, between market and central authority — and the Signal Framework, a fixed method for moving from headline to structure. An application layer runs those instruments against the world as it moves — Signals, Insights, History Rhymes. The fourth layer is not TNBC's to build: opinion is the viewer's layer.
That is also the line between TNBC and the thinkers it is often shelved beside. Dalio acts. Howe anticipates. Turchin predicts. TNBC recognizes: it shows the machine at work in the present, and leaves the conclusions to you. Even the name follows the rule — "the next big cycle" is a coordinate, not a countdown. TNBC measures where the structure stands within it: progressing, regressing, or holding.
Beneath it all runs the engine TNBC tracks everywhere: problems don't get solved — they get managed.
